What is it

If a violation results in a deduction of points from the driving license, it is always mandatory to communicate who was driving the vehicle at the time of the offense and the details of their license, even if it is the same owner of the vehicle.

From the date of notification of the fine, 60 days you have to communicate the driver’s data, even in case of appeal. Failure to communicate will result in an additional administrative sanction for an amount ranging from € 292,00 to € 1.166,00. An incomplete or illegible communication will also be considered as a 'failure to communicate'.

Who is it for

The communication must be made directly to the police authority that ascertained the violation and within 60 days from the date of notification of the ticket, alternatively, by:

  • Owner (jointly liable)

  • Lessee (who rented a vehicle)

  • Legal representative of the company

The communication must be completed by the owner or lessee of a vehicle that has received a ticket that provides for a deduction of points from the driving license. If the owner or lessee of the vehicle is a legal entity, the obligation to provide the data falls on the legal representative or a delegate.
